Teacher path / FCLE Interactive Story Guide

Facilitate the question
before the answer.

Use this teacher area to prepare the reader experience, review the instructional boundaries, and open the story when your class is ready.

Facilitation sequence

Prepare, read, reflect.

1 · Before reading

Set the evidence norm.

Ask students to separate a fluent claim from the evidence that could support it. Introduce FACT + REFRAME as a repeatable method, not a shortcut to the “right” answer.

2 · During the story

Pause at checkpoints.

Students encounter original supplemental civic-literacy questions throughout the novel. Let them reason from the scene and their case file before moving on.

3 · After reading

Review responsibly.

Use the final recap as supplemental readiness practice. Facilitate the civic-action work as observation-only and follow local school procedures.
